Attention All Marching Band Students
The new music for the '08 season will be Pirates. You can hear it if you click the link on the web site at DMHSBand.org. You can practice playing it too! No Music, you say?!!?? Uniform Fitting Day for ALL BANDS is Saturday, August 16, 2008
Students are issued a school-owned uniform for Marching, Jazz and all Concert bands. New and returning students are required to attend the fitting day on Saturday, August 16, 2008. More specific information will follow in July.
Uniform Fitting Day Volunteers Needed
We need your help. Approximately 16 volunteers are necessary to help with check-in, recording information, filing, assisting students with accessory purchases and check-out on Fitting Day. Band Camp is Coming: August 4th - 9th : Volunteers Still Needed
We are still looking for chaperones at band camp to help out with the daily activities and in the cabins at night. Chaperones are necessary to ensure and safe and fun band camp. We also need drivers for the truck to and from camp. It is always a rewarding time, so please volunteer! If you can help out either as a chaperone or a truck driver, please email Rita Ippolito at Azreeree@aol.com
Band Trip
The Band Trip for next year has been chosen. We are be going to Washington DC in January for the Inauguration ceremonies! The event happens over the Martin Luther King holiday (Monday, 1/19/09) so the students will miss only 2 days of school.
DMHS Percussion Summer Sectionals
Sectionals are from 11am to 2pm and will occur every Wednesday through the summer. This summer should be great also as Tyler will also be with us all summer for the sectionals so both battery and pit will have someone in front of them the entire time. All battery and pit members, please give Dave Authement your contact info and scheduled vacation days if have not done so yet.
Raise Money, Go Green and Get a Jump Start on Summer Reading
Students who are enrolled in Honors classes next year should soon start thinking about their summer reading assignments (if you don't know what yours is, please visit the school website http://www.susd.org/desertmountain/ and click on FOR STUDENTS). Visit the DMHSBand website fundraising link http://visitourmall.com/dmhsband and order a gently used copy of your required read. For example, ALIBRIS will donate $3.00 to the boosters when purchasing through this site. A very gently used copy of Cold Mountain cost $3.80 compared to a new copy listed at $14.95. Important: We get commissions on any purchases that you make by clicking on links in our mall. You must enter each store from the links in our mall. If you open another screen to search for coupon codes on other sites the tracking cookies that give us credit for the sale may be overwritten causing us to lose our commission.
